One Way Camps were born in a simple conversation: Rev. Jim Smith and Rev. Hugh Daniel watched God move among a group of students in 1969 and couldn’t stop dreaming about what God would do with a high school camp dedicated to evangelism, discipleship, and hearing God’s call.

By 1970 the first One Way Camp for high schoolers was held with just 65 students. In 1977 the need for One Way Camps for all age levels was recognized. Rev. R. L. Kirk joined the team and Rev. Jim Terry was asked to direct a week of camp for elementary aged campers.

By 1978 One Way Camps were fully established for Elementary, Middle School, and High School Students from across Northwest Texas! It was an amazing first decade of watching God change lives.

For over 50 years, thousands of young people have experienced Jesus as their Savior, grown spiritually, and heard the call of God on their lives, all because two young ministers had a simple conversation and heard the voice of God calling them to start a new kind of camp!

Today, One Way Camps are committed to continuing this tradition of inviting young people to meet Jesus, grow in their faith, and challenging them to hear God’s call on their lives!

“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
(John 14:6 NLT)
